We take great pride in the level of professionalism of each member of our Interstate team. To ensure that it continues, training is an ongoing process at Interstate. We dedicate substantial
resources to the training of each employee - from operations personnel to management team. Our personnel are of the highest caliber, and are among the most experienced professionals in the relocation industry. Interstate's training programs and operation initiatives reflect the drive for quality at every juncture, and are as diverse as the services that Interstate provides.
In 1975, Interstate built a two-bedroom, fully furnished training house and a mock van inside our corporate headquarters facility to properly train drivers, movers and packers. This training house receives rave reviews throughout the industry, and has now been replicated by many of the largest relocation companies in the world.
Every mover receives 80 hours of rigorous training, and every packer receives 40 hours of training, before they are allowed to handle any customers' belongings. Team members receive instruction on all facets of the moving industry, including conduct, materials and material utilization, basic packing and moving procedures.
On the third Wednesday of each month, the Interstate operations team attends a company conference at 6:15 a.m. and the administrative team at 8 a.m. The entire staff is encouraged to participate in a two-way flow of departmental and company information vital to the organization. It is also the intent to address company and departmental achievements, objectives and areas requiring attention or improvement. Meetings are also used to review polices and procedures and conduct telephone and computer training. The monthly gathering provides a regular forum for all employees to get a "heads-up" on what is new at Interstate and in the relocation industry in general.
All managers and supervisors attend a leadership skills session every other Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., in addition to the company conference. The topics of these meetings vary as the needs of the company dictate, but the purpose is to provide a collaborative flow of departmental and company information vital to managers. It is also intended to address achievements, objectives and areas requiring improvement.
