INTERSTATE APPOINTS ERIC FIERST AS GENERAL MANAGER OF ITS LANDOVER FACILITY

(Springfield, VA) Interstate Worldwide Relocation announced the appointment of Eric J. Fierst as General Manager of its Landover, Maryland facility. In this position, he will have direct responsibility for business development, operations and sales for the terminal. Most recently, Fierst was Manager of Quality Control Training.

Fierst brings to his new position over ten years of leadership experience and his extensive understanding of Interstate's full product range and both operations and administrative processes and procedures.

Interstate Senior Vice President J.D. Morrissette shared, "Eric's remarkable ability to lead and his proven success in operations and training is sure to bring success to this new endeavor."

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Fierst joined Interstate in 1999. He has assumed increased responsibilities in a number of capacities, including Quality Control Administrator and Training Supervisor. Fierst played a key role as Lead Auditor in the facilitation of Interstate's ISO certification for all facilities and entities.

Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Fierst's Marine Corps Reserve unit was activated to help provide domestic security during the tense aftermath. Upon his return to Interstate, he brought a new found determination to embrace freedom and enhance the quality of life through his work and leadership.

Fierst attributes much of his success to his experience in the military and comments, "As a member of the military, I have a personal understanding of the travel fatigue, the deployment challenges and many of the same circumstances that the families we serve at Interstate experience in their relocations. I bring a 'been there, done that' attitude to help our employees — and our customers — understand that Interstate will do our job with sensitivity to these events, with the intent of decreasing the customer's anxiety level."

Established in 1943, the Interstate family of companies encompasses a worldwide group of relocation management, transportation services and supply chain logistics solutions serving individual, government and corporate clients. As a woman-owned business, Interstate represents a multi-million dollar enterprise employing more than 300 people, maintaining a fleet of over 300 vehicles and consisting of over 1,000 service partners worldwide. Interstate distinguishes itself with achievements, including ISO 9001:2000 certification for all its entities and facilities, as well as FAIM-ISO certification. The company has also been recognized as the only van line and four-time recipient of the prestigious United States Department of Defense SDDC Quality Award, the National Capital.
